2018 - Time for the Guru!
A fun packed, adrenaline pumping smorgasbord of detrimental social media abuse? Or is it almost exactly the same as 2017 with more emphasis on casual racism? Too early to say, perhaps?
We celebrated New Year in typical fashion; sacrificing a stray hitchhiker to the goddess of the forest and dancing naked around his burning corpse before switching on to Jooooools at midnight and having a sneaky line of coke. I daresay yours was probably more interesting.
It was a time to reflect on the good and the bad things of the previous year. The good reflection was over in 34 seconds. The bad needed several bottles of JD to keep us from slipping into the abyss.
As promised, I failed to deliver a Rashamon Xmas single and I both apologise for that not happening and simultaneously wink at you at what you missed out on. It was not sounding good…or even Xmassy. I’ll return to the endeavours on that at some point in 2018. I think.
I did manage to proof a copy of Mythomania, which I found tremendously exciting. I was pretty much alone in that feeling. Also, it diminished somewhat when I realised just how many spacing errors there were. Needless to say, Proof No.2 is winging its way to me and should hopefully look a little more presentable. Once I’m happy enough I may feel ready to consider some publishing. Maybe even a little marketing. Who knows? Not me, that’s for sure.
My other task is to complete my Star Trek marathon. I’m approaching the final days of DS9 and enjoying it much more now. On the whole, it has been good and if I’m going to offer some criticism it would be:
- Wasted Dax.
- Worf centric episodes are boring.
- Miles O’Brien is not a good spy.
- Sisko should not get overly emotional.
I’m hoping I’ll either be complete or dead before Easter.
After that, I intend to do some reading and take some time before attempting the 3rd proper draft of Seething Fury. This needs a fair amount of work and I’m not in the right headspace to address it at the moment but I’m hopeful I could try and proof that one by the end of 2018. May be ambitious but I like a challenge. As long as it’s a really easy challenge and I’ve got cheat codes enabled.
